Community Quality of Life / Community Pride
This fast-growing region of Northern Virginia has matured to the point that it must have a high quality performing arts center to call its own, as a necessary complement to commercial, retail and residential development, serving its own arts, educational, business, civic and social communities, as well as visitors.
Designed by one of the nation’s leading architectural firms with a specialty in multi-use performing arts venues, the unique design of the Center and its program will make this a "destination region" for those who love the various forms of the performing arts.
George Mason, through the Center, will establish a "Great Performances Series" bringing nationally and internationally renowned performing artists to our community – from bluegrass to Beethoven and clogging to ballet, the program will appeal to the rich diversity of interests represented in the City and the County. Performers for whom the size and design of the new main performance hall would make it a very attractive venue include: Alison Kraus, Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, the internationally acclaimed dance company Pilobolus, the unique voices of Chanticleer, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, the magnificent interpreters of early music, The Folger Concert, the extraordinary range, voice and lyric of Iris DeMent, The Acting Company of New York, Dave Matthews Band, and Mary Chapin Carpenter.
Presentations – in first-class, state-of-the-art venues – by local arts groups large and small, combined with the work of local students, George Mason students and faculty and professional artists from across the nation and around the world will build a sense of community and community pride that will indeed make Manassas and Prince William:
